Arizona Tax Credit

Your tax dollars make a direct impact on Tombstone USD students.

The Arizona Revised Statute 43-1089.01 allows individual taxpayers to receive a tax credit up to $200 ($400 if married filing jointly) for fees paid directly to schools in Arizona for the support of extracurricular activities.

What is an Extracurricular Activity?

An extracurricular activity (ECA) is defined as any school sponsored activity that requires enrolled students to pay a fee in order to participate. Generally, all educational or recreational activities that are optional, non-credit, and supplement the education program of the school are considered to be extracurricular.

Missed the Year-End Deadline

Good news! Beginning in 2016, you may use the credit eligible fees you pay and the contributions you make to a public school from January 1 through April 15 of a calendar year as a tax credit on the prior year’s tax return. So if you forgot to make your tax credit donation before December 31, there still may be time.

Tombstone Students Benefit

Your tax credit contributions go directly to our schools—not to the state. The funds are not subject to the revenue control limit that prevents schools from spending more than a fixed amount for programs. Additional funding from tax credit contributions allow more students to participate in activities. For more details regarding the Tax Credit Program, call your child's school.
